Prof Rachael Taylor
Rachael Taylor is a Research Professor and holds a chair in Early Childhood Obesity (funded by the Leading Thinkers campaign) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Otago. She is the Healthy Weight theme leader of E Tipu E Rea (A Better Start), the National Science Challenge focused on improving health and wellbeing of young New Zealand tamariki (children) and Director of the Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research Centre. She is interested in the interplay between sleep, diet, sedentary behaviour and screen time, and the effect these behaviours have on body weight, particularly in children. She leads or co-leads several large, randomised controlled trials or observational studies focusing on different aspects of effective weight management throughout the lifecycle.
Prof Taylor will be presenting in the Sleep & Metabolic Health Cross-Cutting Symposium on Tuesday 20th July 2021, 10:00am - 12:00pm.
