Milan Piya

Milan Piya is a clinical academic endocrinologist at the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University, and Head of Department for the Macarthur Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism Service (MDEMS) at Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals. Milan chairs the Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals research committee, and is the academic lead for the  Macarthur Clinical Obesity Research Program (MCORP), working across the intersect of physical and mental health in severe obesity. He has a clinical and research interest in severe obesity and related physical and mental health co-morbidities as well as Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and associated health conditions.

Milan is originally from Nepal where he attained his medical degree before moving to the UK to complete his basic physician training as well as specialist training in Endocrinology and General Medicine. He completed his PhD in obesity and metabolism at the University of Warwick, and worked in three major obesity and bariatric centres in the UK over 10 years before moving to Sydney in 2017. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as well as the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh), a member of the Australian Diabetes Society and Diabetes UK, and is on the council of the Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society.
