Dr Mary Kavurma

Dr. Mary Kavurma is head of the HRI's Centre for Peripheral Artery Disease, Group Leader of the Vascular Complications Group and A/Professor at the University of Sydney. Her most significant contributions are in cellular mechanisms of atherosclerosis, the pathological process underlying coronary artery disease and peripheral artery disease. She is co-director of Australian Cardiovascular Alliance Disease Mechanisms Flagship and has held multiple positions within the Australian Atherosclerosis Society and Australian Vascular Biology Society. Mary has an active interest in promoting medical research to the lay community. Her achievements in scientific research, communication and community engagement were acknowledged with a Young Tall Poppy Science Award.
