Prof Damien Keating
Prof Damien Keating obtained his PhD at The University of Adelaide in 2003 and undertook post-docs in Hamburg and Melbourne. In was recruited to Flinders University in Adelaide and has subsequently held an ARC Future Fellowship and a NHMRC Career Development Fellow (Level 2) and is now Deputy Director of the Flinders Health and Medical Research institute (FHMRI). His research has a focus on the mechanisms controlling cell signalling including gut endocrine pathways that impact metabolism and obesity. He uses human gut tissue for many of these studies and he has major translational emphasis on how the mechanisms controlling gut hormone release regulate our metabolism in relation to type 2 diabetes and obesity.
Prof Keating will present “How gut endocrine cells sense their environment to regulate metabolism”
