Professor Andrew McAinch has clinical training as a Dietitian and Exercise Physiologist as well as research training in molecular physiology.

He is interested in studying dietary and exercise modifications for the treatment of disease states, particularly obesity, diabetes and related co-morbidities. He is also interested in the utilisation of human primary skeletal muscle cell cultures and associated research techniques for the investigation of obesity and diabetes related abnormalities.

Andrew has been the Treasurer for the Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society for the last 5 years, is currently a member of the Council of Deans of Nutrition and Dietetics (Australia, New Zealand), Leader of the Lifestyle Associated Diseases Program area within the Centre for Chronic Disease and member of the College Research and Research Training Committee.
